Terroir and location
The vineyards at La Royère span across three locations :
- La Sablière and the area near our main building, where soils are richer in clay and chalk
- Boudougne to the East (« Boudougne » means small hill in Provençal language)
- Le Soleian, which are terraced vineyards located near the old village of Oppède
All our terroirs are slightly sandy and carry pebbles. At night, the stones release the heat absorbed from the sun during daylight. This creates a temperate micro-climate with outstanding earliness for grapes. The oldest vines naturally yield low volumes.
